World Water Day, celebrated annually on March 22, serves as a global reminder of the critical role water plays in sustaining life and driving development. This year, under the theme “Accelerating Change for Water and Sanitation”, the Water Resources Commission (WRC) of Ghana joins the world in reflecting on our collective responsibility to safeguard this precious resource.
The WRC reaffirms its commitment to ensuring sustainable water management, combating water pollution, and promoting equitable access to clean water across Ghana. On this special day, the Commission invites communities, stakeholders, and policymakers to unite in addressing water challenges, protecting our rivers and lakes, and advocating for efficient water use.
Let’s come together to celebrate water, raise awareness, and take action to secure water for future generations. Together, we can make every drop count!
Makeup Change the World
Numbers say it all. Globally, water resource management is gaining momentum, with increasing efforts in conservation, policy reform, and investment in sustainable water systems. The Water Resources Commission (WRC) of Ghana is proud to be at the forefront of this progress, working tirelessly to ensure every drop of water is safeguarded for current and future generations.
In 2023, the WRC reported a 35% increase in initiatives aimed at protecting Ghana’s water bodies, including partnerships with local and international stakeholders. These collaborations are essential, much like how Thomas Edison partnered with innovators to bring his inventions to life. Through joint efforts, the WRC has implemented programs that improved access to clean water for over 1.2 million Ghanaians, demonstrating the power of partnerships in achieving bold goals.
This World Water Day, the WRC calls on all Ghanaians to join the movement, ensuring water becomes a mainstream, sustainable, and affordable resource for all. Together, we can tackle challenges, build resilient systems, and accelerate change for a water-secure Ghana.
